Awareness programmes

AERB organizes public awareness programmes at various sites in the country and also participates in such programmes organized by DAE and other bodies to disseminate information on AERB’s role, regulatory processes & functions and safety requirements to ensure that sources of ionizing radiations are handled, used and transported safely without causing harm to people and environment. The regional radiological centers instituted in various zones of our country are also being used as locations for organizing such programmes. The objective of such programmes is to improve the public perception of safe use of atomic energy and radiation for peaceful and beneficial purpose and provide right information to public to eliminate fear created by myths on radiation. Recently more impetus is placed on such programmes and a decision has been taken to make knowledgebase available on AERB’s website for visitors seeking information on how safety in use of atomic energy and radiation is ensured and reduction of its effect on human being and the environment is achieved. In this line a lot of information has been placed in this website in the form of FAQs. Also advertisements have been developed for print media and electronic media to create awareness on use of AERB approved X-ray facility.
